Supervised Agricultural Experience:

I have maintained an agricultural education SAE for three years. My SAE began as a bi-monthly chapter newsletter that consisted of FFA knowledge and chapter events. As chairperson, I led the newsletter committee and used the newsletter to inform the chapter and community of all things related to FFA and agriculture. I furthered my reach in agricultural education by serving as a teacher’s aide for my teacher and FFA advisor, Andrew Miller. I worked with students to help them learn more about the opportunities they have through FFA. Through my position as a North District FFA officer, first as Treasurer and then again as President, I worked with the other district officers to teach FFA members about the importance of agriculture and FFA through chapter visits, seasonal newsletters, and other district events.

Career Development/Leadership/Talent Events:

I competed in the Horse Evaluation Career Development Event during ninth and tenth grade, then in the Veterinary Science Career Development Event in my junior and senior years. I also competed in the County Creed Speaking Career Development Event in the seventh grade.

Major FFA Accomplishments:

My biggest accomplishments in FFA are my two years of service as a North District FFA Officer and my recent election as State Treasurer. I have also placed top four in the Agricultural Education Proficiency Area for two years in a row.

Favorite Book:

My favorite book is “Fox in Socks” by Dr. Suess. I grew up with a love for reading, which began with my mom and I reading this and other Dr. Suess books when I was a child.

Favorite Movie:

My favorite movie is To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, based on the book by Jenny Han. Although the movie is a cheesy teenager movie, it never fails to cheer me up when I’m having a long day.

Favorite Meal:

My favorite meal is a combination of chicken fingers, baked beans, and macaroni and cheese. Served with Dr. Pepper and homemade peanut butter Oreo ice cream for dessert, this meal is a classic in the Rogers household.

Favorite Quote:

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Favorite Song:

My all-time favorite song is “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” by Creedence Clearwater Revival. I especially like a cover performed on The Voice by Sawyer Fredericks and Noelle Bybee!

Favorite thing about FFA:

My favorite thing about FFA, however cliche, is the number of connections you can make. The National FFA Organization and my time as a district officer gave me some of my best friends in the world. Regardless of your background or your interests, there is a home in FFA for you.

Favorite FFA Memory:

My favorite FFA memory is from right after the last state interview ended. I sat with some of my best friends and laughed and talked with them, finally having a chance to breathe and realize what I had just accomplished simply by being there as a state officer candidate. Recognizing the support I had throughout the interview process reminded me of why I wanted to run, and it is something I will carry with me throughout my year of service and beyond.

College Plans:

I am a full-time college student at Auburn University, where I am studying engineering at the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. I plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and later attend Auburn’s Harrison College of Pharmacy.
