July 17, 2026Hometown:
I’m Ella Ruth Coghlan from the McKenzie FFA Chapter in McKenzie, Alabama, and I’m proud to be serving as your Alabama FFA State Reporter this year! I’ve been involved in FFA since the 7th grade, and throughout my journey I’ve had the opportunity to compete and win banners in Conduct of a Chapter Meeting, Creed Speaking, Horse Evaluation, and Extemporaneous Public Speaking.
SAE:
I’ve also explored a variety of SAEs, including poultry, small animal care, agricultural communications, and environmental management systems. These experiences have strengthened my passion for agriculture and inspired me to pursue a degree in ag education with the goal of becoming an agriculture teacher. This year, I’m looking forward to meeting new people from all across our state, sharing the incredible opportunities FFA has to offer, and using everything I learn to make a lasting, positive impact on others!
Favorite FFA Memory:
Being elected as the 2026–2027 Alabama FFA State Reporter has been, without a doubt, my favorite memory as an FFA member–and honestly, one of my favorite memories of all time. I’ll never forget the overwhelming rush of hearing my name called on stage or the incredible sense of pride that came with knowing every bit of hard work over the past five years had led me to that moment.
Hobbies:
Outside of FFA, I enjoy reading, competing in 3D archery tournaments, and spending time with friends and family!
Favorite Book:
One of my favorite books of all time (and believe me, I’ve read a LOT of books!) is “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee!
Favorite Movie:
“Greater” is my absolute favorite movie! It never fails to bring tears to my eyes!
Favorite Quote:
“I don’t know what my future holds, but I do know who holds my future.” -Tim Tebow.
Favorite Food:
My favorite food (next to chocolate-covered pretzels) would have to be anything Italian! I’m a big fan of ravioli, lasagna, spaghetti, and even pizza–especially with a side of garlic bread!
