Taxidermy Workshop
Bird (Duck) Mounting Steps
This workshop will be held June 22-24 at South Baldwin Center for Technology. Attendees will learn how to properly mount a drake wood duck. If the attendee wishes to mount a duck he or she killed this season, please email Ryan Crews the breed and sex of the duck. Cost of the workshop will be $250.00. Workshop will be limited to the first 10 to sign up.

June 22
-Skin Bird
-Defat (Scissors, razor knife)
-Remove marrow from leg bones and from broken wing bones
-Wash thoroughly in Dawn soap.
-Rinse in clean water, removing all soap.
June 23
-Cut wires and sharpened
-Repair any broken bones
-Wire legs, rebuild drumstick
-Wire wings, tying large double bone to wire
-Run neck wire into body
-Install correct length of neck material.
-Install pre-painted artificial head.
-Install windpipe material
-Pull skin over head and glue skin to head.
-Inject feet with formaldehyde
June 24
-Wire legs though body and clinch
-Sew up chest incision
-Position as desired (Sitting)
-Pin feathers (leave in place for 10 days)
-Install on final Base
