North District Teachers,

This message applies to you if you have a county winning creed, extemporaneous, or prepared speaking winner.

I have been trying to work around spring breaks in North Alabama to schedule the Regional Speaking events. Below are the dates set for NE and NW Alabama Regional Contests. The FFA Calendar will be updated to reflect these dates.

Some of you have already sent your county winners, but if you would complete this form it would be much appreciated. County contests should be completed by March 15.

Eastern Region (Chip Blanton) – Albertville High School, April 6, 2020, 4:00 pm Start
(Blount, Cherokee, DeKalb, Etowah, Jackson, Limestone, Madison & Marshall Counties)

Western Region (David Defoor) – Falkville High School, March 17, 2020 4:00 pm Start
(Colbert, Cullman, Fayette, Franklin, Lamar, Lawrence, Lauderdale, Jefferson, Marion, Morgan, Walker & Winston Counties)

Register HERE!  Registration closes March 15, Prepared Manuscripts are due March 15. These can be emailed to me.

General things to know before the contests.

  1. County contest must be held prior to March 15. (Manuscripts are due to me by this day anyway.)
    2. County Winners will advance to the Regional LDEs.
    3. County winners must attend the regional to advance.
    4. County winners must register by March 15.
    5. In the interest of fairness you MUST attend the regional event for the county in which you represent. I cannot make exceptions for this. MAKE PLANS TO ATTEND IF YOU WIN YOUR COUNTY.
    6. In the event that there are eight or less participants registered total (per event and combined between the two regions) we will use this as a practice event for those speakers that would like to practice.
    i. Example: If we have three individuals registered for Creed in each region (six total) representing six counties all six will advance to Wallace. These members would be encouraged to attend the regional as a practice.
    7. Once the regional events are over and scored I, the district improvement specialist, or the teacher in charge (hosting) will reveal in alphabetical order the top 4 advancing to Wallace. This will be done the evening of the contest. Thus, there      will be a total of eight (8) speakers in each event at the district level.

Sincerely,

Andy Chamness
